by was a new boy ina decade after leaving brooklyn bethel, the presiding overseer's son drops by, offering a bible study.. was so disillusioned with the hypocrisy found there and being able to peak behind the curtain.. it was like, 'are you freakin crazy?'.

Recently, the Pope went on a Muslim country visit and said, "I am coming as a pilgrim of peace and fraternity," Francis wrote Friday on Twitter. "We Christians and Muslims believe in God, the Creator and the Merciful, who created people to live like brothers and sisters, respecting each other in their diversity, and helping one another in their needs."
And just the other day, Pope Francis says A Catholic priest can bless a gay or other unmarried couple as long as it is not a formal liturgical blessing . How long before polygamy will be blessed?
My bet is on Rome as Babylon the Great (Mystery Babylon)

The speaker used logical fallacies much the same as you do.
The speakers’ thesis was that since God said he wouldn’t leave his sons in darkness, then his information (about 1975) was proof of the fulfillment of that promise. That is really bad Circular reasoning and he offered zero proof, again much the same way you fail to use logic properly. Since, you “know” that God doesn’t exist, then you must be right?
I think the term mental midget is appropriate as used.
I hope you evolve a better understanding of logical reasoning.

The speech was very manipulative.
It is easy to spot the hype now. But, back then for the average blue collar worker that just wants to be told what to do, that kind of talking is very effective.
It has the “ring of truth”, if you are an uneducated mental midget.
It’s sad how predators prey on the weakest among us.

Jesus is “preeminent.” (Col. 1:18)
That means he is first. In everything. First in importance, first in honor, first in exaltation. And the grammar of the verse indicates that Jesus is the “head” and the “beginning” and the “firstborn” in order that Jesus might be the preeminent one.
There is no way to otherwise interpret the phrase “King of kings and Lord of Lords”.
He is “God manifest in the flesh”. The incarnation of Jehovah sharing in one body, the son of a virgin peasant girl.
This is the Jesus the Wt tried to hide from us.

The Reasoning Book
by Magnum inthe book reasoning from the scriptures was released in the 1980's, and it was used at virtually every meeting for service, every service meeting, and every theocratic ministry school meeting thereafter.
many jws had copies bound together with their bibles.
it was huge in jw land back then.. at that time, with the reasoning book, jws were trained to keep conversations going in spite of objections, to almost stick their feet in people's doors to keep conversations going, to defend "the truth," to argue doctrine, etc.. compare the situation today with that of the 80's.

Yes Ding they did. I know of pioneers that had the reasoning book bound to their bible
Sneaky ones those pioneers. I kept boxes of old mags in my trunk while I was pioneering. Used them on poor unsuspecting apartment dwellers. We set up ambushes in the laundry rooms. At least that is what I thought. In reality, they were a lot smarter than my family and they just put them in the trash where they belong.
It all seems so silly now.
